Abia Warriors Football Club will welcome their neighbours, Enugu Rangers International, to Umuahia tomorrow in a matchday 10 game of the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League expected to be an explosive encounter.
It will be Abia Warriors’ second oriental derby in the 2023/2024 NPFL season, having won the bragging rights against Naze Millionaires Heartland FC of Owerri with a 1-0 victory.
Abia Warriors will look to repeat last season’s performance against the Flying Antelope, whom they beat 2-1 at the Umuahia Township Stadium after triumphing 2-0 in the first leg decided at the Awka City Stadium.
The Pride of Abia are currently occupying the 11th position (with 12 points) in the NPFL table while Rangers International are 5th on the log with 15 points.
Interestingly, Abia Warriors have a perfect home record so far this season, and Coach Erasmus Onuh’s side will look to keep that record running. Their optimism was boosted with the return of some key players from injury who are likely to be on parade as they welcome their oriental brothers from Enugu including Ozor Philip, Ifeanyi Anaemena, Peter Ijeh, and Monday Yakubu.
