Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia lost at home for the first time in the on-going 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League as Champions, Enyimba International Football Club of Aba claimed a 1-0 win over their oriental brothers at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
A 72nd minute strike by Enyimba’s Bernard Ovoke made the difference in the keenly contested encounter.
It was a cagey affair throughout the duration of the game with chances far and betwixt but it was the Peoples Elephant who capitalized on a sloppy defence by the home side to make hay.
A worry for Abia Warriors is the injury to midfield warlord, Daniel Wotlai in the 66th minute which allowed the visitors a breathing space in the middle of the pack.
