The Chairman of Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia, Coach John Obuh, on behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of the club has extended his heartfelt sympathy to Doma United Football Club over the unfortunate road accident involving their players and officials.
The Gombe based football club’s team bus conveying the players and officials was involved in a road accident along Makurdi/Lafia road, as the traveling squad were heading back to Gombe after honouring NPFL Matchday 35 game against Heartland Football Club in Owerri, Imo State.
While speaking with Abia Warriors media, Coach Obuh, expressed shock over the terrifying news, but thanked God as no life was lost.
“I am shocked to learn of the horrifying road accident involving the players and officials of Doma United Football Club of Gombe. It’s saddening that such a terrifying incident happened to the team. I can imagine the emotional trauma their families have gone through upon learning about the road mishap.
“Thankfully, no life was lost, and I thank God for sparing the lives of these ones.”
He also prayed for the club and other football clubs in Nigeria for God’s protection.
“On behalf of Abia Warriors Football Club, I extend my sincere sympathy to the entire management and staff of Doma United Football Club, and I also join millions of football fans in Nigeria and beyond to pray for the club and other football clubs in Nigeria for God’s grace and protection as they move from one State of the Federation to another, to honour football matches.”
Following the incident, the league body has moved Doma United’s NPFL Matchday 36 fixture against Sunshine Stars Football Club earlier scheduled to hold on 13th June 2024, to 19th June 2024.
