Abia Warriors Lose 1-0 To Niger Tornadoes

It was a bad day at the office for Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia as they lost 0-1 to visiting Niger Tornadoes of Minna, at the Enyimba International Stadium, in a Matchday 10 encounter of the Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League.

The first half was a cagey affair as both sides failed to carve out a clear cut chance.

However, Chukwuemeka Obioma was unlucky not to give Abia Warriors the lead as his free kick came off the crossbar in the 23rd minute. And yet again, ten minutes later.

The Warriors came out smoking in the second half but met a resolute Niger Tornadoes defence.

Against the run of play, the visitors took the lead at the half-hour mark through Wasiu Jimoh, whose shot from range beat Ali Ishaku for what later turned out to be the match-winner.

Second half substitute, Shedrack Asiegbu, came close to scoring the equalizer in the first minute of added time when his well-tailored free kick ricocheted off the crossbar.

Up next for Abia Warriors is a trip to Ibadan to face Shooting Stars Sports Club at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasimgba.
