Abia Warriors of Umuahia will on Sunday, 23 May, rekindle it’s rivalry with Porthacourt based, Rivers United, in one of the matchday 22 fixture’s of the current Nigeria professional football league.

Abia Warriors who chased from the back foot at the beginning of the current campaign had its woes compounded on Matchday 2 as the Umuahia warlords got a shocker as the team lost narrowly to the ‘Pride of Rivers.

Regardless all the tough times, the Coach Imama Amapakabo tutored side rose to the occasion, had a strings of eight matches unbeaten run and thus ended the first round on the 10position. What a team!

On resumption for the league second round, the pride of Rivers pulled one of the surprise results of matchday 21 as the Coach Stanley Egwuma side piped Rangers international at the ‘Cathedral’ courtesy of Godwin Aguda early minute strike.

The Coach Imama Amapakabo tutored Abia Warriors side after loosing narrowly to Jos based Plateau United on Matchday 20 were on a standby on Matchday 21  as the team opponents, Enyimba Fc, had a litmus test on the continent.

The Umuahia warlords will get back in actions on Matchday 22 against Rivers United, a reverse fixture the ‘Pride of Rivers’ claimed all maximum points at away to Abia Warriors.

Points Hungry Abia Warriors side are expected to hit the oil rich Rivers State in the early hours of tomorrow ahead of the cracker against Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Porthacourt.

Rivers United win over Abia Warriors on Matchday 2 of the current campaign marks the first ever win of the team at way to Abia Warriors before and after the merging of the defunct Sharks and Dolphins of Porthacourt.

To make amends and retrieve the lost home points, the Abia Warriors side will look towards to upset the ‘The Pride of Rivers’ at their fortress as the Stanley Egwuma team are yet to loose a point at home in the current season.

Abia Warriors will look forward to uphold it’s decent results and track record they hold against the Rivers State based outfit as they Warriors are yet to loose at away to Rivers United in recent times.

Abia Warriors boasts of a fully fit team with the inclusion of Carl Academy graduate, Henry Udezuka, who is expected to stage a debut against the Rivers State based side.
